Barolo San Giovanni kommer fra ca. 4000 velsituerede planter, sat i 1969. Disse planter yder det mest overbevisende udtryk for denne position, takket være Gianfrancos altid sikre hånd.

Lokaliteten giver en majestætisk og rigt facetteret Barolo af stor styrke og raffinement. Den er fortolket relativt moderne, med relativ kort macerationstid og med lagring på 45% nye franske barriques, der giver en nænsom afstemning med egetræ. Tanken er, at vinens udtryk ikke forstyrres, men fremhæves, og det muliggør, at denne Barolo gennemgår en smuk evolution, og udvikler betagende flaskelagrings-aromaer.

6-7 dages maceration ved 28-30° C på vertikale temperaturkontrollerede ståltanke. Lagret 24 måneder på 45% nye franske barriques. Dernæst ca. 1 år på flaske før frigivelse.

Rubinrød farve med granatrøde reflekser. En udtryksfuld og majestætisk Barolo med en smukt sammensat aromatisk profil af stor intensitet, og i munden særdeles velstruktureret og harmonisk.

The 2020 is rich and deep, but with greater finesse than in the past. Intense savory, balsamic and mineral notes resonate on the super-classic finish. 'In the bottle with the black label, the Gianfranco Alessandria 2020 Barolo San Giovanni is a wine of measurably higher intensity, bigger shoulders, more power (with 15% alcohol) and a larger span of aromas. You get dark fruit, grilled herb, licorice, campfire ash and pressed rose. It's a beautiful wine that definitely requires more time to find integration. Production is 5,000 bottles plus with larger formats.'
