Alkoholgæring i 28 dage i cementtanke og efterfølgende lagret 36 måneder på store slavonske fade, efterfulgt af 6 måneder på flaske.

Mørk og tæt rubinrød farve og en stor klassisk duft af læder, tobak, våd skovbund og kirsebær.

Stor og vedvarende smag, med varme og en delikat frugtsødme der bliver holdt perfekt på plads af både tannin og syre.

Da det sidste medlem af familien Piccolomini i 1985 døde, blev det Giuseppe Bianchini og hans familie der overtog den historiske 1700-tals ejendom i det sydøstlige hjørne af Brunellodistriktet, nærmere betegnet Castelnuovo dell' Abate.

Ejendommen består af 200 hektar landbrugsjord, hvoraf 35 hektar er tilplantet med Sangiovese Grosso, Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot og Syrah. Fra de to vinmarker Fonte og Pianrosso bliver der fremstillet henholdsvis Rosso di Montalcino og Brunello di Montalcino. Ud over disse bliver der fremstillet en IGT vin, ATEO af Sangivose og 30 % Cabernet/Merlot.

'Funkelndes Rubin mit leuchtendem Granatrand. Fein gezeichnete, ansprechende Nase mit klaren Noten nach Hagebutte, knackigen Kirschen, etwas Blutorange und Gewürznelke. Eröffnet am Gaumen mit kernigem, zupackendem Tannin, strömt ruhig dahin, im Verlauf kommt schöner süßer Schmelz dazu, sehr gute Spannung, salzig und lange.' 'A cornerstone of the typology, we are in the southeastern region of the denomination, a stone’s throw from Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Rich nose, notes of red mulberry, then rosemary and touches of Peranzana olives. The taste is savory, with a return of red mulberry and iodine-officinal shades.'

'Sweet berries and cherries on the nose, together with fresh violet and lilac notes. Full body with juicy tannins and a flavorful finish that opens on the palate. Lots of ripe cherry flavor. Tar, too. A rich and layered Pianrosso. One of the bigger, riper wines of the vintage, but still holds true. Try in 2027.'

'Prugne rosse, fragole, litchi, gerani in fiore, datteri, mandorle tritate, buccia di limone, lime, muschio bianco, cioccolato bianco, incenso, fiori misti, zenzero e zest di arancia nel profilo principale. C’è di più in sottofondo con le sfumature intrigante di bergamotto, cannella e chiodi di garofano. Corpo pieno, tannini perfettamente maturi e polimerizzati ed un finale classico di stampo lineare e dal carattere italiano. Meglio dal 2025.'

'Aged in Slavonian oak for 36 months, Pianrosso is a selection from the self-titled vineyard: 11 hectares in the lower southeast of Montalcino. The grapes were harvested between 11 September and 4 October 2019, suggesting a classic vintage. It shines for its Earl Grey tea aroma combined with dark cherry, cinnamon, liquorice, and a floral bouquet. The fruit character is very dark and precise; gorgeous in this vintage. Full bodied, thick and velvety with firm, long yet integrated acidity, it tapers on the finish but this should be considered a signifier of its elegance. - Aldo Fiordelli.'

'The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Pianrosso opens to a wide and all-encompassing bouquet with dried cherry or cherry pie with the crust, plum tart and rose potpourri. There are evident oak tones, but they fold into underbrush, grilled herb and the generous texture of this wine. Likewise, the 15% alcohol content also neatly disappears into the wine's fleshy fruit consistency. For sure, this is a wine that needs more bottle evolution in order to hone in on the silkiness and pretty freshness of such an important Sangiovese. Exactly 43,054 bottles were made along with about 1,000 larger formats.'
